How to donate tools

Tools cannot be dropped off at the site but will be picked up by local collectors.

What we do

Tendring Tool Refurb is an independent workshop that supplies tools to TWAM, operating from a portacabin and barn on a farm in the Beaumont area. The portacabin has been renovated for the refurbishment of tools. Tools are collected in the local area and, when possible, refurbished on-site and then collected by TWAM for distribution at the main Ipswich centre.

We also have volunteer speakers willing to visit local Churches, Rotary groups, U3A, WI and other community groups to share our story and the work we support in Africa.  Please get in touch if you would like to discuss this with us.

Volunteer with us

The Tools Team currently meets most Fridays between 9.30 am and 1.00 pm. Our aim is to bring men together and enjoy friendship and fellowship together. To encourage this, we support TWAM in their tool ministry in Africa. If you would like to join our team please contact Peter for more information. The unit is situated at Beaumont just two miles outside Thorpe Le Soken.

The Haberdashery Team, within Tendring Tool Refurb meet once a week to bring packs together but a great deal of work goes on in the home of each volunteer during the week, including the sorting of materials and production of tapestry, bags, aprons and tea towels using the group's extensive skills including embroidery and cross-stitch.  Up to 70 bags a week are produced.  Assembled packs are sent to Ipswich for placement into haberdashery kits that accompany each sewing and knitting machine sent out.

Many craft items produced are sold locally to raise funds for TWAM which are then used to purchase items for the haberdashery kits like scissors, tape measures and needles that are not often donated but are critical to Haberdashery packs. Tapestry canvas is also required.  f you would like to purchase items they are available in the Miniature House and Shops Museum, Kirby Le Soken, Essex.

We are looking for volunteers to join us at the refurbishment centre to help with a wide variety of tasks.  Please visit our dedicated volunteer website for details: timefortwam.uk
