How to donate your tools

tool.png

If you would like to donate your tools, please read the Tools Wanted List at the bottom of this page or download the PDF before contacting a local volunteer collector. For specialty haberdashery items, please click the button below for a copy of our detailed Haberdashery Guide.

If you are still unsure, please call us on 01473 210220 or email post@twam.uk

We have a national network of over 200 volunteer tool collectors who will either pick tools up from you or act as a drop off point.

Use the postcode checker below to find your nearest collector. If you wish to drop off your tools at one of our refurbishment centres, please contact them beforehand.

Contact your chosen collector via email

Please put in your email along with your message

  1. Name

  2. Telephone number

  3. Postcode

  4. The collector's name (in case the email is redirected to our main post email)

Please note when using our postcode checker that the distance in miles stated is a straight-line calculation between your postcode and that of our collector. It does not take into account rivers or actual road distances. We have included the town our collector lives in, so you can use local knowledge to determine how near they are.

We would not normally expect a collector to travel more than 10-15 miles to collect tools.

We are unable to collect tools from EX, PL, TR, and TQ postcodes. We can also no longer collect tools from Scotland.

Please where possible put all tools into banana boxes and fruit trays which are usually available at supermarkets. These boxes are really strong and will make it quicker and safer for our collectors to take away your tools.

If clicking on the email address has no effect, please right-click it and click "Copy email address"

Tools Wanted

Yes please

Our mission is to send life-changing tools to enable recipients to build a sustainable career. However, some donated items are not needed by our beneficiaries, or might be surplus to our needs. We therefore seek to resell certain items - another way of saving them from landfill - whilst also raising vital funds for our work. We always recognise that our donations are done generously, and we try to honour that donation by using an unsuitable item to raise funds. If in doubt, call us on 01473 210220.

Our priority is to keep people safe. Large tools, such as benches and circular saws, can only be sent if they have safety shields and other safety features intact and unbroken. We will not send equipment which could endanger life.

No thank you

It’s not about what we want, but about what people can use.  What may be useful to us may not be useful to recipients in our partner countries. If we say we can’t take something, we don't mean to be ungrateful; we’re simply being honest. This list is not exhaustive, but reflects things that we are regularly offered by well-meaning supporters. We are a tool charity and cannot offer a house clearance service.
