Volunteer Roles

Van Team

Join one of our TWAM Van Teams and become a vital part of our mission to send refurbished tools to African skills centres for livelihood creation.

TWAM Vans collect tools that are donated to us, either from volunteer collectors or members of the public, and bring them back to our Refurbishment Centres. There are driving roles, van management roles, and van administrator roles.

We have vans based in Ipswich, Rugby, Leeds, Maidstone, and Aldershot, and are particularly looking for van team members in Leeds and Kent. Email below to register interest today!

Tool Refurbisher

Refurbishment volunteers help us to get all the donated tools ready in our Refurbishment Centres.

Whether making haberdashery kits, packing carpentry tools, or refurbishing old computers, they play a key role in sorting the tools that can be used to change lives, giving them some basic TLC to bring them back to life, and putting together life-transforming kits that support long-term livelihood-creating projects across Africa.

No previous experience required! We have roles available in both of our centres, in Ipswich and Rugby. Email today and tell us about yourself - and we'll find you the perfect refurbishment role!

Community Fundraiser

Community Fundraisers offer their expertise to come up with creative ways to fundraise, both nationally and in their local community.

Whether getting involved in tool sales, looking out for grant opportunities, or running events - the sky's the limit when it comes to generating support for TWAM! Community Fundraisers also keep an eye out for sponsored events and encourage people to get involved.

They make our work possible by raising much-needed funds to keep the charity running, as part of our fundraising team.

Admin and Operations

Admin volunteers are often the first point of contact for our supporters and volunteers in our Ipswich head office.

They answer phone queries and emails, write thank you letters to donors, respond to donations, and more.

There are other, more specific admin roles, including within the Operations team preparing documentation for our containers, assisting country coordinators, or putting together van schedules. You could also get involved in catering, marketing TWAM's brand, or helping to write our literature.

Country Coordinator

Country Coordinators have a vital and very exciting role as they are the face of TWAM. They work directly with our in-country volunteer teams to support groups applying for tools, process their applications and prepare containers for despatch.

The Country Coordinator role would suit somebody who wants to engage on a deeper and more personal level with our tool recipients and has the time commitment to take on our work in a whole country, including England.

We currently send tools to the UK, Malawi, Tanazania, Uganda, Zambia, Burundi, and Zimbabwe. We will be adding other countries to the list in the near future, such as Kenya, Rwanda, and Nigeria.

Trustee/Chairperson

Trustees have a major role to play in TWAM's strategy and planning. As our organisation continues to grow, we have exciting new opportunities to join the TWAM board!

Volunteer trustees sit on our executive board, and are at the helm of all decisions made concerning Tools With A Mission. Whether preparing budgets, making long-term operational decisions, or representing TWAM at the highest level, being a trustee is a fantastic opportunity for a people-oriented person committed to our mission!

To register interest, email today and we will be in touch!
