New Life for Old Tools in Sheffield

Sheffield Tools For Africa (https://st4a.org.uk/) are one of our partners and local hubs. The wonderful people at ST4A support TWAM by collecting and refurbishing tools for us, which we then organise and send to Africa.

Chris, one of the team at ST4A, got in touch to tell us about how someone was able to support both their work and TWAM's mission:

"A huge THANK YOU to Rotary Club member Richard for allowing Sheffield Tools For Africa the free use of his garage to store tools ready to ship.

As donations come in to our workshop and are sorted and refurbished, the finished tools pile up in the ‘Goods Outward’ corner, taking up significant space until we can arrange a collection from TWAM.

With the growth in donations (which is great!) this meant we needed a pick-up every 4 weeks or so. But having a garage allows us to store finished tools and donations until we have nearer to a full van load, saving driver time and fuel, and giving us more working space in the workshop.

Thank you for supporting our work changing lives in Africa!"

We are so grateful to Chris, Richard, and all the team for their tireless work collecting old tools from the UK (saving them from landfill) and storing them in a safe place, to be packed into life-changing toolkits.

We take a wide variety of tools. Click the button above for the full list of accepted tools, and to find your nearest local collector or drop-off point.

Our work is mostly done by volunteers, whether that's driving around collecting tools, refurbishing them, or helping out in the office. Have a look at our roles.

Support our work by covering the costs involved with putting together a tool kit, as a donation, or an alternative gift on behalf of a loved one.
