We are delighted to announce that TWAM will be supporting a second special project in Africa this year - the Makanya Entrepreneurial Technical College in Zimbabwe.

Makanya is an informal settlement on the outskirts of Harare, home to around 30,000 people. Despite its size, the community has limited electricity and water supply, very few social services, and almost no opportunities for vocational education. For many young people, unemployment and poverty leave little hope of earning a stable income or supporting a family.

The Entrepreneurial Technical College has been created to change that. Under the guidance of qualified staff, students will leave with a marketable skill, giving them direct access to technical opportunities - opportunities that we here might take for granted.

But the college will only be able to provide skills training if it has the right tools - tools that we can provide.

TWAM’s aim is to raise £20,000 to fund a bespoke shipment of tools and essential IT equipment for Makanya.​

Without tools, training remains largely theoretical. With tools, students can practise, gain confidence, produce quality work, and graduate ready to earn an income from day one.​​
