Volunteering in Ipswich
We can offer full training, support, encouragement and the chance to join our TWAM family. You can volunteer at times that suit you. We are looking for:
Warehouse based volunteers on week days except Thursday. We'd love to hear from you if you have or are willing to learn the skills in tool refurbishment, haberdashery, sewing machine refurbishment and/or general warehousing skills. You will be helping to refurbish tools that may well have ended up in landfill. The tools will then be sent out the charities around the world.
Office based administrative volunteers any day Tuesday to Friday. You would ideally need previous experience in an office or be willing to learn. Work would include answering calls from the public (usually on how to donate tools) or our supporters, word processing and spreadsheet based admin. General admin duties such as filing and data entry. There is no cold calling. You will be helping us receive tools and handling the vital administration that keeps our charity well managed.
Working out of the office, a van driver to drive once or twice a month for a day, where days suitable for you can be picked from a schedule. You would be picking up tools from our tool collectors, so being able to lift items will be necessary. This vital role ensures we can get tools back to our warehouse for refurbishment. You would need a full clean licence and some previous van driving experience.
"I'm Graham the Warehouse Manager at TWAM in Ipswich, we need some help in our warehouse packing carpentry kits, refurbishing sewing machines and tool refurbishment from chisels to spades. We also need 1 or 2 drivers for the van. Can you help us?".
We have free on site refreshments and internet. There is car parking and good access to local bus routes and the town centre by foot/bike. Ideally we'd like a volunteer to do half a day a week or more regularly.
Our mission is to collect unwanted tools, refurbish them, sort them into trade kits and send them across the world. We send around 20 containers filled with over 300 tonnes of tools every year. You could help us make a difference to thousands of lives a year through the provision of tools.
Could you be a new volunteer? Get in touch with Graham Hart at TWAM on 01473 210220 or email; firstname.lastname@example.org for warehouse based positions. Call the same number or email email@example.com for office based positions.
