What we do
The unit in Penarth is the collecting point for the whole of South and West Wales, south of a line running though Builth Wells in Mid-Wales. There are currently half a dozen collectors within that area, mostly south of the M4 corridor. We have a number of people who kindly act as local drop-off points for the collectors to collect from, thus providing a slightly wider coverage. We concentrate on sorting, cleaning and refurbishing/repairing tools, rather than on creating kits. The refurbished tools are collected on a 6-weekly rota from the Coventry refurbishment centre and either used in their kit-making or forwarded to Ipswich. On average, we send 8 van loads a year at about a tonne a time.
Volunteer with us
We would like to recruit more collectors throughout the area, but especially in the northern section, north of the M4 corridor. If we can recruit more collectors, we would anticipate needing to open more often to cope with the greater throughput.
